The origin of Fine Fellows
Jewellery and horses have been my passions for as long as I can remember. As a child, I loved making brooches and hair clips out of polymer clay. Together with my parents and siblings, we went on riding holidays to the Icelandic horse farm in Berlar in the Sauerland region in the early 90s. As I was only 4 years old, I wasn't allowed to ride myself yet. That didn't stop me from building my own horse out of straw and string. Since then, I have been deeply connected to Icelandic horses. When I was 7 years old, I was finally allowed to ride myself and took every opportunity to do so.
As a teenager, I started helping out at the goldsmith's in our village - in Neubeuern in Germany. I took on small jobs and earned my first pocket money. As I had wanted an Icelandic horse as a pendant in silver for a long time, the goldsmith gave me the opportunity to make one myself. I carved the horse in wax and when it was finally finished after a long time, it was cast in silver. That was the Kjarni pendant. As it turned out quite beautiful, the goldsmith made a mould of it and so I was able to reproduce it and sell it to my friends for a small amount. Over the years, my jewellery collection with Icelandic horses continued to grow and developed into my company: Fine Fellows.
